The youth was arrested on 4 February, following investigations led by officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division, who utilised footage from police cameras to identify him. According to the police, the Mobicam is operated to help deter and detect crime in that area.
Legal Ramifications
- The offence of mischief can lead to severe consequences, including a penalty of up to 10 years in prison, a fine, or both.
- Authorities have confirmed that investigations into the teen’s involvement in other unrelated offences are still ongoing.
A police spokesperson stated, “The police take a serious view of any act that interferes with police equipment or undermines the safety and security of the community.” It’s a reminder that tampering with police property is no laughing matter—especially in our effort to keep Singapore safe.
