Singapore Maintains Third Place in Global Corruption Index for 2025

SINGAPORE: Singapore has once again secured its spot as the third least corrupt country in the world, according to the latest Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) released by Transparency International on 10 February 2024. This is the second consecutive year the nation has held this position, closely trailing Denmark and Finland.

Consistent Performance

Singapore maintained its score of 84, highlighting its robust anti-corruption framework and the public’s trust in the country’s integrity. The 2025 index assessed a total of 182 countries, revealing that only five countries scored over 80 points, while the global average was a mere 42.

  • Singapore: 84 points
  • Denmark: 89 points
  • Finland: 88 points
  • Global average: 42 points

Public Confidence

According to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB), the number of corruption cases in Singapore continues to be low, reinforcing the perception that corruption is “firmly under control”. Surveys indicate strong public support for the country’s ongoing corruption control efforts.

“Robust legislation, effective enforcement, and a vigilant society united by a shared commitment to integrity contribute significantly to our score,” stated the CPIB.

Regional Leadership

Not only did Singapore excel in the latest CPI, but it also led in various other international rankings:

  • Second place globally for lack of corruption in the World Justice Project Rule of Law Index 2025.
  • Top position out of 16 economies in the Political and Economic Risk Consultancy’s report.

This continued high ranking demonstrates Singapore’s unwavering commitment to maintaining a clean and transparent governance system. As the nation strides confidently into the future, this collective determination highlights its enduring reputation as a model for integrity and governance.
