Five Arrested in CNB Drug Bust Involving E-Vaporisers and Etomidate

In a significant operation by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), five individuals were arrested over two days for their involvement in suspected drug offences, specifically related to e-vaporisers containing etomidate, commonly referred to as Kpods. The series of arrests took place on 25 and 26 February 2024, culminating in a substantial seizure of products and assets.

Details of the Arrests

On the evening of 25 February, a 36-year-old Singaporean man was apprehended in Bedok North, where he allegedly resorted to a violent struggle necessitating the use of force by CNB officers. During this incident, 50 vape pods believed to contain etomidate were confiscated.

Later that night, a 29-year-old Singaporean man was taken into custody at the junction of Sembawang Road and Mandai Avenue. This led officers to a self-storage facility in Woodlands Close, where a staggering 1,084 Kpods were discovered, along with the seizure of his vehicle.

Raids Yield Further Arrests and Seizures

Meanwhile, a raid at a residential unit in Miltonia Close resulted in the arrest of a 37-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman. This operation unveiled several vape products—including 145 vape pods and nine vapes believed to contain etomidate—alongside more than S$240,000 in cash, various foreign currencies, luxury watches, and two vehicles owned by the man.

In the early hours of 26 February, another suspect, a 19-year-old Singaporean man, was arrested at a unit in Woodlands Drive, where five more vape pods containing etomidate were seized.

Legal Implications and Ongoing Investigations

Etomidate, classified as a Class C drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act since September 2025, has strict regulations governing its importation, sale, and distribution. Those involved in activities regarding etomidate-infused products face serious legal consequences.

CNB has confirmed that investigations into the drug activities surrounding these arrests are still ongoing. The proactive measures taken by the bureau demonstrate their commitment to tackling drug-related issues and ensuring the safety of the community.
