Two Recent Accidents on Singapore Roads Leave Multiple Hospitalised

In a span of just two days, two road accidents in Singapore involving cars and motorcycles have resulted in several people being hospitalised, raising concerns about road safety.

Accident on Bukit Timah Expressway

On 11 November 2024, a collision on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) left two individuals injured. Eyewitness accounts on social media showed a black SUV parked with its hazard lights flashing, alongside two motorcycles – one of which had toppled over. As per reports from The Straits Times, emergency services were alerted at approximately 7.30am.

  • A 27-year-old male motorcyclist and a 26-year-old female pillion were taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
  • The driver of the SUV, a 55-year-old man, is currently assisting with police investigations.
  • Traffic congestion extended along the BKE after Dairy Farm Road, reaching as far as Kranji Expressway.

Accident on Whitley Road

Just a couple of days earlier, on 9 November 2024, another accident occurred along Whitley Road. A silver car pulling out from an intersection collided with two motorcyclists. Video footage provided by ROADS.sg shows the dramatic moment the riders hit the car, with one even landing on its roof.

  • Four individuals, including two male motorcyclists aged 33 and 37, and two female pillion riders aged 21 and 28, were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
  • A 51-year-old male driver of the car is also cooperating with ongoing police investigations.
  • The authorities received alerts about this incident around 8.30am.
