As Singapore prepares to host the 12th Singapore-Malaysia Leaders’ Retreat at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore hotel on 4 December 2024, residents should be aware of notable changes in public transport and security protocols.
Bus Service Diversions
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced that a total of 18 bus services will be temporarily diverted. These diversions are due to lane and road closures from 10pm on 3 December until 11.59pm on 4 December, affecting bus service numbers:

Security Arrangements
In line with the retreat’s security measures, the police will be conducting checks in the vicinity of The Ritz-Carlton and will enforce a temporary restricted area for aerial activities. From 9am to 5.30pm on 4 December, no aerial activities—including kite flying and drone usage—are permitted within the designated area.
Those engaging in such activities without appropriate permits may face hefty fines, potentially up to $20,000. Local residents are urged to check the OneMap.sg website or app for up-to-date information on restricted areas.
Bilateral Cooperation Discussions
The meeting serves as a critical platform for the Prime Ministers of Singapore and Malaysia—Lawrence Wong and Anwar Ibrahim—to discuss strategies for enhancing bilateral cooperation. Previously, during the retreat held in January 2024, leaders focused on key projects such as the Johor-Singapore Economic Zone and the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link, underscoring the importance of regional connectivity.
As the event approaches, the public is reminded to adhere strictly to police instructions to ensure a smooth and secure gathering.
