Tragic Road Incidents in Singapore: Cyclist and Motorcyclist Injured

Singapore’s roads have witnessed two serious accidents within days of each other, raising concerns over road safety for vulnerable road users.

Fatal Accident in Tuas

A 46-year-old male cyclist tragically lost his life following an accident involving a private bus in Tuas on 30 January 2024 at approximately 7.55 am. The incident occurred at the junction of Tuas South Avenue 4 and Tech Park Crescent.

Emergency services, including the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force, quickly arrived on the scene. The cyclist, believed to be a Bangladeshi worker, was found unconscious and transported to Ng Teng Fong Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

A 68-year-old bus driver is currently assisting the police with their investigations, which are ongoing.

Motorcycle Accident in Tampines

In a separate incident, a 20-year-old male motorcyclist and his 18-year-old pillion passenger were injured after colliding with a car at Tampines on 1 February 2024 at around 7.40 pm. The accident occurred on Tampines Avenue 2, causing significant disruption on the road.

Images shared on social media depicted the motorcycle lying on its side amidst debris, highlighting the severity of the crash. Fortunately, both individuals were conscious when paramedics from two Singapore Civil Defence Force ambulances arrived and subsequently transported them to Changi General Hospital for treatment.

As with the earlier accident, police investigations are currently in progress.
