A 46-year-old father has been sentenced to three years and three months in jail after being found guilty of incest and voyeurism involving his two young daughters and an Indonesian domestic helper. The disturbing case, which came to light in 2024, revealed repeated sexual abuses and secretly recorded videos, shaking the community.
The Disturbing Details
Between 2019 and 2023, the man engaged in sexual activities with his older daughter, now 23. Despite her initial reluctance, she felt compelled to comply with his requests. The court heard that he had also taken videos of both his daughters showering discreetly on at least six occasions in January 2024.
A Pattern of Abuse
- The man was found guilty of one count of incest against his elder daughter.
- He faced three counts of voyeurism for recording both daughters and a third victim, an Indonesian domestic helper.
- Seven additional charges, including two counts of incest, were taken into account during his sentencing.
In February 2024, the alarm was raised when the elder daughter told a social worker about the abuse. She had previously confided in her younger sister, asking her not to disclose anything to their mother for fear of repercussions.
How the Crimes Were Uncovered
The police received a report on 4 April 2024 after both daughters disclosed the details of their abuse. Investigators seized the father’s phone, uncovering explicit videos of his daughters and 25 additional obscene films.
The abhorrent recording method involved placing his phone in the bathroom while pretending it wasn’t recording. His technology-savvy approach included using an app to mask the recording function.
The Response from Authorities
Deputy Public Prosecutor Jordy Kay emphasised the severity of the man’s actions, stating that his abuse had caused deep psychological harm to his victims. The maximum penalty for incest is up to five years, while voyeurism can attract a sentence of up to two years.
Future Steps
The offender is scheduled to begin serving his sentence on 6 October 2024. His legal team expressed hopes for rehabilitation and forgiveness from his family during these trying times.
