This swift operation underscores the continued commitment of the police to maintain safety in our communities.

- Two suspects were apprehended in a forested area near the Rail Corridor.
- A third man was caught at a mall in Clementi that same evening.
- The final suspect was arrested the following morning at a hotel in Geylang.
Confiscated Items
The suspects were found in possession of:
- Housebreaking tools, including screwdrivers and spanners.
- Clothing.

Link to Previous Crimes
According to police reports, these suspects have potential ties to three housebreaking incidents reported in the area between April and July 2024, with losses amounting to around S$3.85 million (US$3 million) in stolen valuables. One of these cases involved attempted housebreaking, while the other incidents saw luxury items, including watches and jewellery, stolen from unsuspecting victims’ homes.
Police Commitment to Safety
Assistant Commissioner Serene Chiu, Commander of the Clementi Police Division, stated that the police “will spare no effort” in apprehending criminals who target Singapore. The suspects, who recently entered Singapore via the Woodlands Checkpoint, will be charged for possession of housebreaking implements. If found guilty, they face up to two years in jail, a fine, or both.
Preventive Measures
In light of this recent spate of housebreaking incidents, the Singapore Police Force has intensified preventive measures:
- Enhanced surveillance through additional police cameras.
- Increased patrols in residential estates.
- Community engagement initiatives to educate residents on crime prevention.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant, particularly against suspicious activities and to report any concerns to the police.
