Four Singaporeans, Including Actor P. Suresh, Charged for Brawling in Johor Bahru

A chaotic scene unfolded in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, as four Singaporeans, including part-time actor P. Suresh, found themselves in hot water following a series of brawls. The incidents not only took place at a shopping mall but also escalated within a police station, capturing public attention across social media.

The Altercations

On 21 December 2024, a scuffle initiated at a shopping mall in Jalan Serigala reportedly arose after the wife of a suspect, Loe Sou Peng, confronted another man for spilling beer on her. This confrontation quickly devolved into blows exchanged between Suresh and businessman Chua Chin Heng, aged 56.

However, the drama didn’t end there. Later that day, as events unraveled, Suresh and Chua were drawn into a second confrontation at the Larkin police station where they were filing a report.

The Court’s Decisions

As the dust settled, the four faced charges for disorderly conduct. Here’s a breakdown of the court’s decisions:

  • P. Suresh, 46, pleaded guilty to causing hurt and was fined RM1,500.
  • Chua, his wife Loe, and their son Axl Chua Kai Jun, 27, pleaded not guilty to charges of voluntarily causing hurt. If convicted, they could each face up to 12 months in jail or fines up to RM2,000.
  • The altercation at the police station saw both Suresh and Chua jointly charged with disorderly conduct; Suresh admitted guilt, receiving a RM400 fine, while Chua pleaded not guilty.

All involved have been granted bail, with the family set to return to court on 27 January 2026. If the court finds Chua guilty of disorderly behaviour, he may face a harsh sentence of up to six months’ imprisonment or a fine of RM500.

Public Reaction

Videos of the brawl quickly spread across social media, showcasing the ruckus as bystanders attempted to intervene. As discussed in the community, such altercations raise questions about behaviour in public spaces and the ramifications that follow.

According to reports from Malaysian media, the incident has sparked both outrage and sympathy, drawing mixed reactions from those following the case.
