A 38-year-old man, Indra Fitry, is facing charges for his alleged involvement in two cases of housebreaking and theft at the Orchard Rendezvous Hotel. The incidents took place between 19 and 21 August 2024, with the police receiving reports on both days.
Details of the Incidents
On 19 August, the first victim reported the theft of his handphone from his hotel room. Just two days later, another victim reported that both his handphone and wallet were missing. In total, up to S$39.56 in cash and several identification items, including an automated teller machine (ATM) card and an Indonesian driving licence, were taken.
Police Investigation
Thanks to thorough ground enquiries and CCTV footage from the hotel, officers from the Tanglin Police Division quickly identified and arrested Indra on the same day as the second theft report—21 August.
Consequences of the Offence
- If convicted, Indra could face a maximum of 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine.
- The charges are outlined under Section 451 of the Penal Code of 1871.
