SINGAPORE: Another fire has erupted at a Kranji warehouse, marking the fourth incident at the location in just seven years. The fire broke out on Wednesday, 19 February 2024, at 11 Kranji Crescent, which is occupied by the recycling and waste management firm Wah & Hua.
Fighting the Flames
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the blaze at around 10:30 AM, quickly deploying six water jets and unmanned firefighting machines to tackle the well-alight fire. The fire enveloped a space measuring approximately 50m by 50m, involving waste materials stored within the warehouse.
Safety Measures and Public Advisory
- SCDF urged the public to steer clear of the area due to safety concerns.
- Those in the vicinity, including users of the SGSecure app and mobile subscribers from M1, StarHub, and Singtel, received alerts to stay away.
- Traffic congestion was reported in the area, prompting SCDF to suggest alternate routes.
Investigation Underway
The National Environment Agency (NEA) and SCDF are now investigating the cause of the fire. NEA confirmed that future actions will hinge on the findings of this investigation. If necessary, they will update guidelines about the safe management of waste products, based on new evidence from the incident.

In the most recent fire, one person was taken to hospital due to smoke inhalation and burn injuries. The SCDF reported that the blaze was largely extinguished by 7 PM, though some deep-seated pockets of fire remained to be addressed.
