The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) is set to enhance maritime emergency responses with a new headquarters on Pulau Brani, due for completion in March 2026. This facility will feature cutting-edge technology to better manage incidents at sea, from fires to rescues.
Real-time Incident Management
At the heart of this new four-storey headquarters is the Integrated Command Centre (ICC), designed to improve coordination among various maritime agencies. This includes collaboration with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and the Singapore Police Coast Guard.
- Real-time communication through satellite and radio networks
- Data visualisation tools for live incident feeds
- Support for operational briefings and inter-agency exercises
According to Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Minister of State for Home Affairs, the marine division must continue to expand its capabilities to meet the growing demands of Singapore’s busy waters.
Future-Ready Fleet Expansion
The SCDF’s marine division, established in 2012, is rapidly evolving. Currently, it operates six vessels, including the impressive Red Sailfish, known for its remarkable firefighting capabilities. Plans are underway to expand the fleet to ten vessels by 2029.
Additional bases will be established, increasing the total from four to six by 2035. This strategic growth aims to improve response times and operational effectiveness across Singapore’s maritime domain.
Sustainability at the Forefront
The new headquarters will also set high standards for sustainability. It aims for the Green Mark Platinum certification, with features like solar panel installations and low-flow plumbing fixtures to reduce water usage.
With these upgrades, the SCDF is ensuring that its marine division remains capable and ready for the challenges ahead.
