Singapore’s Housing and Development Board (HDB) has unveiled plans for approximately 1,600 Build-To-Order (BTO) flats, set to rise in the Lakeview and Shunfu neighbourhoods. This initiative marks a significant addition to public housing, the first of its kind in over 40 years for established towns.
Details of the Lakeview Projects
The first Lakeview project, slated for the June 2026 sales exercise, will consist of about 1,200 units. It includes:
- 470 units of 2-room Flexi flats
- 740 units of 4-room flats
- 50 public rental flats integrated into two blocks
These five residential blocks will vary in height, ranging from 18 to 40 storeys, providing stunning vistas of the surrounding landscape, including the nearby MacRitchie Reservoir.
Additional Projects in Shunfu
Alongside the Lakeview project, two more BTO developments will launch in Lakeview and Shunfu, offering:
- 130 units of 3-room flats
- 290 units of 4-room flats
Construction is expected to commence in the second quarter of 2026, with HDB keen to address housing needs in the area.
Community Amenities for Residents
National Development Minister Chee Hong Tat emphasised the importance of creating a supportive living environment for families. The development will feature a myriad of amenities:
- An eating house and minimart
- A clinic and bakery
- A hair salon and childcare centre
- A three-generation playground, complete with fitness stations for older adults
- A multi-storey car park with a roof garden
Additionally, the existing park connector along Upper Thomson Road will be realigned for better access to the lush green spaces of MacRitchie Reservoir.
Proximity to Transport Links
The new housing developments will also benefit from excellent transport options. The closest MRT station is Marymount on the Circle Line, ensuring residents can easily commute to other parts of the city.
With the introduction of these initiatives, HDB continues its commitment to provide Singaporeans with diverse housing options while enhancing the urban living environment.
