A tragic incident unfolded on 10 December 2024 in Bali’s Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, where a large tree collapse claimed the lives of two female tourists and left another severely injured. The popular tourist destination was bustling with visitors at the time of the accident.

The unfortunate event occurred around 12:10 pm local time. According to the management of the sanctuary, a sudden and strong gust of wind caused the tree to fall. The victims who lost their lives in this unfortunate accident have been identified as Justine Christine, 32, from France, and Kim Hyoeun, 42, from South Korea. The injured party, a 43-year-old named Lee Sunni, also from South Korea, is currently receiving medical treatment.
Impact on the Sanctuary
In response to the incident, the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary announced that it would be closed on 11 and 12 December 2024. Management stated, “As a forest conservation area dedicated to environmental preservation and the safety of our visitors, we carry out routine maintenance and conservation work.” They also urged visitors to exercise caution during adverse weather conditions.
