In the past week, two separate accidents in Singapore have left multiple individuals injured and taken to hospitals for treatment. Both incidents, captured on dashcam footage, highlight concerns over road safety in high-traffic areas.
Multi-Storey Carpark Collision
The first incident occurred at Nex shopping mall’s multi-storey carpark on 6 December 2024, where a 73-year-old male driver lost control of his silver car. The vehicle sped down the ramp from the third level, crashing into a stationary grey car on the second level.
- The collision caused the grey car to hit two parked vehicles.
- Emergency services were alerted at approximately 2.30pm, and both the 66-year-old driver and his 60-year-old female passenger were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
- The police are currently investigating the incident.
Yishun Dam Incident
Just days later, on 12 December 2024, another accident near Yishun Dam further emphasised the need for road caution. At about 9.30pm, two cars collided along Seletar West Link, resulting in an overturned vehicle.
- The accident blocked traffic, causing congestion extending to the Central Expressway (CTE).
- Two female car passengers aged 21 and 22 were conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, while a third individual declined hospital transport.
- Witnesses reported seeing emergency personnel attending to the injured.
As investigations continue for both accidents, authorities remind drivers to maintain vigilance, especially in busy areas. Road safety remains paramount, and adherence to traffic regulations is essential to prevent similar incidents in the future.
