Kim Jong Un Reinforces North Korea’s Nuclear Stance Amid International Tensions

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is currently emphasising the importance of advancing both nuclear and conventional military capabilities. This announcement comes ahead of a significant meeting of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea, as reported by state media KCNA.

A New Military Policy

During a recent inspection of weapons research facilities, Kim stated that the ninth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea would focus on building up national defence through simultaneous development of nuclear forces and conventional armed forces.

  • Kim oversaw a shooting drill for the military on Friday.
  • He also visited a construction site for a new hospital.
  • These activities follow his recent visit to Beijing, where he participated in major international meetings.

North Korea’s Irreversible Nuclear State

In further developments, the permanent mission of North Korea to the United Nations declared that the country’s status as a nuclear weapons state is now irreversible. They dismissed US calls for denuclearisation as “anachronistic,” asserting that such a stance is a provocative interference in North Korea’s internal affairs.

According to KCNA, the DPRK’s nuclear arsenal is viewed as a necessary measure to defend against perceived threats from the United States.

Upcoming US-South Korea Military Exercises

Adding to the tensions, North Korean media condemned an upcoming military exercise planned by the United States and South Korea. Described as a “nuclear war drill,” Pyongyang accused these exercises of justifying its aggressive nuclear posture.

As we approach the Workers’ Party’s Congress, the international community is closely monitoring how North Korea’s military ambitions will shape regional security dynamics.
