S$1,200 Vouchers for Seniors: Enhance Your Home with the EASE Programme

Starting from 1 April 2024, over 80,000 eligible households residing in private residential properties can look forward to receiving S$1,200 in vouchers. This initiative aims to subsidise the cost of installing senior-friendly fittings, ensuring a safer living environment for our seniors.

What’s the EASE (Private) Programme?

The Enhancement for Active Seniors (EASE) Programme, specifically for private housing, was introduced by Minister for National Development Chee Hong Tat during a recent visit to Braddell View condominium. The goal is to reduce fall risks for seniors and offer peace of mind for families.

Eligibility Criteria

  • At least one household member must be a Singaporean aged 65 and above, or
  • Aged 60 to 64 and requiring assistance with daily living tasks.

Subsidy and Installation Details

The programme provides a substantial subsidy, covering 75% of the installation costs for selected fittings. This means if the installation bill totals S$800, the government will contribute S$600, leaving the household to pay just S$200.

Households will receive a mailer detailing the application process and, upon approval, can engage a pre-qualified contractor for the installations. Eligible fittings include:

  • Grab bars
  • Slip-resistant treatment for floors
  • Single-step ramps
  • Handrails
  • Home fire alarm devices
  • Bidet sprays
  • Shower seats

Phased Application Process

The application for the EASE (Private) Programme will occur in phases:

  • From 1 April 2024: Households with seniors aged 80 and above or aged 60 to 64 requiring help.
  • From 1 July 2024: Households with seniors aged 70 and above.
  • From 1 October 2024: Households with seniors aged 65 and above.

This initiative aligns with the national effort under Age Well SG, aimed at improving the living conditions of our elderly and supporting active ageing. This extension to private properties reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing the lives of seniors throughout Singapore.
