Singapore Gears Up for SG60 Celebrations with One Countdown Events

As Singapore approaches 2025, the nation is set to kick off a year-long celebration of its 60 years of independence with the One Countdown festivities. Organised by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), this series of events promises to bring a spectacular start to the new year.

Exciting Activities Across the Nation

The One Countdown celebrations will take place across central locations and 17 heartland sites, including:

  • Marina Bay
  • Sentosa
  • Clarke Quay
  • Ang Mo Kio
  • Boon Lay
  • Woodlands

Highlights include live performances, carnival games, and the longest fireworks show in Singapore’s countdown history, lasting 15 minutes!

Community Focus

Celebrations in the heartlands aim to engage local communities. Residents can enjoy activities without venturing too far from home, creating a sense of neighbourhood spirit and togetherness.

Migrant Workers Also Included

Importantly, migrant workers will not be left out of the festivities. Special events at six recreation centres and over 10 dormitory locations will feature live performances and exciting games.

Transport Services Extended

To accommodate the anticipated influx of participants, public transport operators are preparing to extend services. More details on this will be announced soon.

Reflecting on Nationhood

As Prime Minister Lawrence Wong noted, the SG60 celebrations should be a time for reflection on shared values and commitment to building a better future together. It’s not just about the festivities—it’s about reaffirming our connection to Singapore.
