Multiple Injuries Reported After Accidents at The Star Vista and People’s Park Complex

SINGAPORE: A series of incidents this past weekend left several individuals seeking medical attention. Two notable occurrences involved a glass panel falling at The Star Vista mall and a fire at People’s Park Complex, both resulting in injuries.

The Star Vista Incident

On 20 April 2024, a glass panel fell from a height at The Star Vista, a popular mall near Buona Vista MRT station. This facility, owned by New Creation Church, was the site of an unfortunate accident that prompted immediate response from emergency services.

  • Location: Between the second and third levels
  • Injuries assessed: Six individuals
  • Hospitalised: Four individuals
  • Declined treatment: Two individuals

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was quick to respond, providing assistance and assessing the injuries on site. A staff member confirmed the fall of the glass panel but had no further information at the moment.

Fire at People’s Park Complex

The very next day, on 21 April 2024, another emergency unfolded as a fire broke out at People’s Park Complex around 4.35am.

  • Materials involved: Cleaning supplies and equipment
  • Response: Fire extinguished with a water jet by SCDF
  • Hospitalised: Six individuals for smoke inhalation
  • Current status: Cause of the fire under investigation

Thankfully, the fire was contained without causing further damage. The six individuals affected were taken to Singapore General Hospital as a precaution.
