Car Crash in Miaoli, Taiwan
In a separate incident, a Singaporean family faced tragedy during a holiday in Taiwan on 14 December 2024. A man, his wife, and their three-year-old daughter were involved in a serious car crash in Miaoli.
The family had rented a car for a trip to a strawberry farm when the father lost control of the vehicle. Footage showed their rental veering to the left, crashing into a power pole, which ultimately collapsed, blocking off traffic.
- The wife, a 33-year-old Chinese national, was trapped and later died from her injuries.
- The father and daughter suffered minor injuries.
Local authorities noted that the woman showed no signs of life when first responders arrived. While both incidents underscore the urgent need for road safety, they highlight the vulnerability that can come with travel.
