In an exciting development for Singapore’s democratic process, more than 2.75 million citizens will be eligible to vote in the upcoming General Election. That’s an increase from around 2.6 million eligible voters in the last election cycle.
Current Voter Statistics
As of 1 February 2024, the Elections Department (ELD) has reported a total of 2,758,095 electors on the certified registers. This updated figure reflects a rise of 104,153 eligible voters since April 2020.
- Public inspection of the revised registers began on 25 March 2024.
- Voters can check their details through the ELD website or the Singpass App.
- Electors can also verify their particulars at Community Centres, ServiceSG Centres, or the ELD office by making an appointment.
Upcoming Changes
With the electoral boundaries recently updated as of 11 March 2024, the ELD is working diligently to prepare the composite Registers of Electors. These registers will include the changes based on recommendations from the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee (EBRC).
The department has advised voters to await further announcements regarding the certification of these composite registers before checking their updated particulars. In the meantime, individuals can still access information based on earlier electoral boundaries.
Prime Minister Lawrence Wong highlighted that updating the register is essential and marked as the “next milestone” before the elections are officially called.
As Singapore gears up for its democratic exercise, this boost in voter eligibility reflects an engaged citizenry eager to make their voices heard.
